FAQ's
-
How long does each procedure take? Each session typically lasts between 2-3 hours, depending on the area being treated and the technique used. This includes time for consultation, mapping, numbing, and aftercare instructions.
-
How should I prepare for my appointment?Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and blood-thinning medications (unless prescribed by a doctor) for 24 hours before your appointment. Refrain from using retinoids or exfoliating products on the area for at least one week prior.
-
What can I expect during the healing process?Immediately after the procedure, the color will appear darker and slightly swollen. The area will scab and lighten as it naturally peels. Do not be alarm if the color "disappears." As the skin heals you may feel like your color is gone. This is completely normal. It takes on average around 3 weeks for the color to "resurface" or reappear. Please be mindful that you will typically need 2 sessions for normal services. Specialty or correction services may require more than 2 sessions. Full healing generally takes 45-60 days, with a gradual softening of the color over several weeks.
-
What should I do after my procedure?Aftercare is crucial for the best results. Avoid touching the treated area, direct sunlight, heavy exercise, and swimming for the first 7-10 days. You technician will provide detailed aftercare instructions to follow and take home with you.
-
Can I wear makeup over my permanent makeup? It’s best to avoid wearing makeup directly on the treated area until it has fully healed. Once healed, makeup can be applied as usual if desired.
-
How do I know what style and color to choose? Our artists will work with you to determine the best shape, style, and color to suit your facial features, skin tone, and personal preferences. We’ll outline the area, review it with you, make any necessary changes and make sure you 100% approve of everything before starting.
-
Can permanent makeup be removed? There are many factors when it comes to removal. Traditional "removal" is done with a laser but a licensed medical professional. However depending on the age of that tattoo, application and pigment used the tattoo may not completely be able to be removed. We offer saline lightening, which is done similarly to a tattoo application. It is a more affordable way to lighten previous work that way it can be corrected.
-
What is Permanent Makeup?Permanent makeup, also known as micropigmentation, is a cosmetic tattooing technique where pigment is implanted into the upper layers of the skin. It’s used to enhance facial features, such as eyebrows, eyeliner, and lips, to create a natural look that lasts. It is also used to correct old micropigmentation or tattooing as well as aiding in neutralizing and evening out lip tone.
-
How long does permanent makeup last? The longevity of permanent makeup varies depending on skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare but generally lasts 1-3 years after your second session. Some clients may need occasional touch-ups to maintain their look over time.
-
Is the procedure painful? We use a topical anesthetic to minimize discomfort during the procedure. Most clients describe the sensation as mild to moderate discomfort, often less than anticipated. If you have had a tattoo before I would expect a lesser version of that same sensation as PMU needles do not go as deep into the dermis.
-
How safe is permanent makeup? Our procedures are performed by certified professionals in a sterile environment using high-quality professional pigments. All medical supplies, needles, cartridges, bibs, gloves are all single-use, disposable tools. All medical waste is disposed of properly. We utilize latex-free gloves, but if you have any specific allergies please let your technician know as well as make sure to list it on your medical intake paperwork. We adhere to all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe, positive and clean experience.
-
Can I get permanent makeup if I have sensitive skin?Yes, most people with sensitive skin can receive permanent makeup. However, we recommend scheduling a patch test beforehand to ensure you don’t have a reaction to the pigments.
-
Will permanent makeup work for all skin tones and types?Yes, we can customize pigments to complement various skin tones and types. We have pigments to accommodate Fitzpatrick skin types 1-6! During your consultation, we’ll discuss the best options for your unique complexion.
-
Who should avoid permanent makeup?Permanent makeup may not be suitable for individuals with certain health conditions, including active infections, specific allergies, or blood disorders. Please inform us of any health conditions during your consultation.
